Welcome

Welcome to our home page entitled "Almost Heaven". Now, it ain't much; however, since it's author and family live in South Carolina and are about 40 years removed, it is our means to share a love we have for our native home. It was once said years ago that although the sun may not always shine on West Virginia it always shines on her people! It has also been said that you can take the boy out of the country but you can not take the country out of the boy! Hopefully someday those "Country Roads" will again "Take Us Home". Again welcome, enjoy, drop us a line and Let's Go Mountaineers!!!!!!! Come back often for this site will be upgraded regularly.

Our Family

My name is Bill, my wife is Karin, and our daughter is Karina, My sons are David and Thomas. I was born in Clendenin, West Virginia, and have lived in Columbia, South Carolina since I retired from the US Army in 1980. Karin was born and raised in Offenbach Germany, My daughter Kariria and son Thomas was born in Landstuhl Germany. My oldest son David was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Although we have been away from West Virginia for quite some time we continue to respect deep Mountaineer roots.

I have recently retired from the South Carolina Department of Corrections, This will be my second retirement. I have also just bought a old used Bass Boat and I am planning on catching a few fish in the lakes and streams around here soon..
